Cancelled (Aug.21-22)

 August 21-23 (Postponed from July 19-21). The service will be virtually done but depending on the official orders and guidelines, members could attend Bon services.

*Betsuin decided to postpone the service because we’d like to choose the better way with more updated situation. 

Haleiwa Jodo Mission

Cancelled (July 24-25)

We will accept Toba orders and will have Toba prayer services by (1) In-person private appointments in accordance with CDC guideline from July 11 to 25, (2) private appointments via video streaming from July 11 to 25, or (3) public video streaming on July 25 at 6:00 pm.  Families who order Toba will be able to choose one of those Toba prayer services.

*Tanagyo will be done by Sensei upon request only.

*Toro Nagaschi Cancelled but plan to do a virtual Toro Nagashi by using a drone.

* We continue to accept extra donations to Food Bank and Operation Backpack which is sponsored by the North Shore News.

Kurtistown Jodo Mission

 -We will ask for o-bon donation and Toba prayer as usual

-Cemetery service and Bon service will be held on Saturday, August 1, maybe from about 11 a.m. by Sensei.

-If Hatsubon family and donors want Sensei to pray at the church, need to call Sensei for scheduling.  The prayer would be done on July 28, 29, 30 or 31.  It maybe takes about 10 minutes.  We will have less than 9 attendances; they should wear a mask and 6 feet away from each other.

-Those who want to do Tanagyo house visitation service should call Sensei for scheduling.

Hilo Meishoin

Cancelled (July 19)

-Bon Services: O-toba will be displayed from July 12.  Sensei will be doing o-bon services from July 12 to July 18 by request.  Same procedures will be used:  less than 10 people, social distancing, and mask wearing.  On July 19, Sensei will be doing an O-bon service by Sensei.

 If the Hatsubon family, O-toba, and/or Ko-toba families request a service, it will be done with the same procedures.  Please call Sensei to make arrangements.

Deadline to order Toba is June 26, 2020.  Order forms will be in the June newsletter.

Funeral and Memorial (Nenki) Services:  Make arrangements with Sensei.  Services will be held for less than ten (10) people including the Reverend.  Wearing a mask is required, and social distancing will be followed.

Hakalau Jodo Mission

July 26 @10:00 am.  Planning to have a Bon service at Social Hall with more social distancing. Live stream service with a private link. Only Kotoba prayer will be done. O-Toba & Toro Nagashi will be cancelled.  Individual Bon services and prayers will be done upon request. However, Bon Graveyard services will be done after making announcement of date and time.

*Grove Farm offer help for KBC to sponsor an event similar to Bon dance in Sept.

Postponed to July 19 @10:30 am.  Planning to have a live stream service without attendees. Only if large gatherings allowed, we invite members to attend.  Individual Bon services and prayers will be done upon request only.

Bon Service at cemeteries will be done by only minister.
