Koloa Jodo Mission - Buddhist Temple Since 1910
When I refill gasoline, I usually take a photo of both odometer and trip meter. Then I check a receipt of gas and calculate how many miles the car was able to run during this period. By doing this, I can get to know gas mileage and fuel efficiency.
For example, last month, I refilled 13.883 gallons of gasoline which cost $44.69. The trip meter indicated 197.2 miles. Then I can calculate gas mileage. It was about 14.2 MPG (miles per gallon.)
Well....because our car is old, this gas mileage is actually bad. But it's still cheaper than buying a new car. Now I get to have a custom to check air pressure of the tires when MPG was worse.
On May 12, it was only 10MPG which was really bad because air pressure of the tire was really low. Yes, by keeping tracks of the gas mileage, I can be mindful of the fuel efficiency.

For me, I was very shocked to know it cost about 26 cents for one round trip from Koloa Jodo Mission to Koloa School by driving 96 Mercury Mountaineer. I was saving pennies for various projects but realized walking to school was a much better way to save money!
Interstingly I recalled what my brother advised me last year for diet. Just keeping a record of your weight everyday would be the first step to lose weight. He continued to say,it should be
good for marketing, too.
So in order to save energy, first of all we need to know how much energy we are using for everyday. Without knowing this, our efforts might be in vain.
