People sometimes ask me which is better place to have a Buddhist memorial service...at temple? at house? or at the cemetery? I usually answer, " It's up to you. I'd like to follow your convenience." However, I do have a recommendation.
My recommendation is definetely at Koloa Jodo Mission. This is not only because I can present Dharma-talk using a whiteboard here but also because I can provide my home-baked cake or Sushi here at Koloa Jodo Mission for the refreshments after the service.
When I was in Japan, I never imagined that I could bake a cake or manju. But now I can...thanks to our members and friends of Koloa Jodo Mission. Especially I stay grateful to my baking Sensei, Mr. Alan Funamura. After learning how to bake chiffon cake in 2009, I came to have a feeling that I could do anything.
Now I can say, baking cake is a really piece of cake.
